What is Emergency First Response?
Emergency First Response is a new, comprehensive and innovative CPR and First Aid program Brought to you by the Emergency First Response Corp., a corporate affiliate of PADI.
The program is designed to introduce the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) AND Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid) courses.
Taught separately or together , these two courses make up Emergency First Response, a comprehensive CPR and First Aid program following the most current layperson emergency care standards. The courses are based on state of the art instructional design principals and focus on providing a low stress environment to enhance learning.
Emergency First Response Basis and Validity
The Emergency First Response program is based on established instructional design and educational protocols to render an educationally valid and credible product. The courses are flexible and accommodate individual learning styles using a variety of media. In addition, the courses address individual participant (and instructor) needs in terms of how the participant meets course goals. Knowledge development can be flexibly accomplished via participant independent study, using a video guided approached or instructor may chose to teach the materials themselves. In all circumstances, skill development and practice is accomplished under the expert guidance of a trained EFR instructor. The instructional approach may be tailored to a multitude of applications, such as if local regulations specify a specific course duration. The courses are performance based, designed with measurable objectives up front so participants can demonstrate skill and knowledge mastery, helping assure that participants have learned the material.
Regarding patient care, Emergency First Response follows the standards set forth in the consensus view of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Working Group of the International Liaison Committee on the Resuscitation (ILCOR). ILCOR is an international standards group representing many of the world’s major resuscitation organizations. A source authority for the development of content material in the Emergency First Response program is Guidelines 2000 for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, International Consensus on Science, Circulation, 2000; Vol. 102 ( suppl ); © 2000 American Heart Association ® , Inc. Medical content review was completed by an international group of respected physicians.
In short, the Emergency First Response program brings you professional, educationally and medically reviewed CPR and first aid courses that meet international standards, yet allows flexibility for regional variations.

Final Thought
Recent world events have caused many people to reflect on life’s priorities and, not surprisingly, helping others is often rising to the top. Providing quality CPR and first aid programs helps people meet this need. Learning how to care for a sick or injured person helps people feel prepared and comforted by the knowledge that they can help if the need arises. Focusing on teaching first aid and CPR programs in our communities, businesses and anywhere there is interest not only makes business sense, it can also improve how people interact and perceive each other. In short, it feels good because it is good, it is a skill you learn for life.
